FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the free browser tools, the paid OCR service, privacy, credits and payments.

General

What is Ocr4you?

Ocr4you is a website with 66 free PDF, image and file tools plus a paid AI OCR service that turns scans and photos into editable text, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything works in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on desktop and on mobile.

Do I need an account?

The free tools work without an account. For OCR you can try the free pages as a guest; signing in with Google keeps your credits, history and purchases on one account.

Free tools and privacy

Are my files uploaded when I use the free tools?

No. The tools under /tools/ (merge, split, compress, convert, resize and so on) run in your browser with JavaScript. The file is read and processed on your own device and the result is saved from there. It is not sent to our server.

Why do the free tools sometimes feel slow?

Because the work happens on your device, speed depends on your phone or computer. Very large PDFs or many high-resolution images can take longer on older devices. Closing other tabs usually helps.

Is there a file size limit for free tools?

There is no fixed upload limit because nothing is uploaded, but your browser memory is the practical limit. Files of a few hundred MB can fail on phones.

OCR and credits

How is OCR different from the free tools?

OCR (optical character recognition) needs more computing power than a browser can give, so OCR files are uploaded over HTTPS to our server, processed, and the result is returned to you. OCR is a paid service with a small free allowance.

How many free OCR pages do I get?

New visitors start with 16 free OCR pages. Each processed page uses one credit. After that you can buy a page pack or a monthly subscription on the Pricing page.

Which languages does OCR support?

OCR works best on printed English text and also supports Hindi and many other languages, depending on the tool. Clear, straight, high-contrast scans give the best results.

Can OCR read handwriting?

Neat handwriting is sometimes recognised, but OCR is designed for printed text. Always check handwritten results carefully.

What happens to files I upload for OCR?

They are used only to produce your result. Temporary working files are removed after processing; signed-in users can see and delete their processing history from their account. We do not sell or share your documents.

Payments

Do unused pages roll over?

Subscription pages reset every month. One-time page packs remain valid for up to one year from purchase, as described on the Pricing page.

How do I get a refund or fix a billing problem?

Email officialocryou@gmail.com with your account email and payment reference. See the Terms of Use for the refund rules.
