Frequently asked

What does Edit PDF do?

A fast, free PDF editor that works right in your browser. Type on any PDF, fix existing text, add your signature, images, highlights, shapes and notes, then reorder, rotate or delete pages – without installing anything and without uploading your file.

The tool works entirely inside your web browser. Your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server, so they stay private. Closing the tab removes everything.

Existing text is edited by covering it and placing new text on top, so the new font can differ slightly from the original.

How to use Edit PDF?

1

Open your PDF with the upload box – it loads instantly in the editor.

2

Pick a tool from the toolbar (Text, Sign, Highlight, Shape, Image...) and click on the page.

3

Drag, resize or restyle anything you added. Use the page sidebar to reorder, rotate or delete pages.

4

Click Download to save your edited PDF (the original file name with “-edited”).

Edit PDF – common questions

How do I edit a PDF online for free?

Open your PDF on this page, choose a tool such as Text, Sign or Highlight from the toolbar, click on the page to add it, then press Download. The editor is completely free, needs no account and adds no watermark.

Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?

Yes. Choose “Edit text” and click a line of text. The editor covers the original words and places editable text on top, matching size and position. Because the standard PDF fonts are used, the new font can look slightly different from the original font.

How do I sign a PDF with this editor?

Click “Sign”, then draw your signature with the mouse or your finger, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature. Place it, resize it, and it can be saved in your browser for next time.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The whole editor runs inside your web browser, so the PDF stays on your device. Your unfinished work is kept only in this browser’s local storage so you can continue later; you can discard it at any time.

Will editing reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. Your original pages are kept as they are, including vector text and graphics. New text is written as real PDF text and shapes as vector graphics, so everything stays sharp when you zoom or print.

Can I add, delete, rotate or reorder pages?

Yes. Use the page sidebar to drag pages into a new order, rotate them, duplicate them, delete them or insert blank pages.

Does the PDF editor work on my phone?

Yes. It works in modern browsers on Android and iPhone as well as on Windows, Mac and Linux. On small screens the toolbar can be collapsed, and you can draw and sign with your finger.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

Remove the password first with our free Unlock PDF tool (you need to know the password), then open the unlocked file here.
